Cost of college went up for resident students at Indian Hills Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at Indian Hills Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Iowa residents paid $4,224 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $144 more than the $4,080 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 36.4 percent more than residents this year, or $5,760. Their price tag was unchanged from $5,760 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Iowa residents. And about 5 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 466 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million and 350 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (3,918), 1,893 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.6 million, and 1,486 students took out $8.1 million in federal student loans.
