Wayne County Hospital is opening a Your Neighborhood Pharmacy at the former location of a BP gas station on Highway 2, citing demand in the community for pharmaceutical services that are more closely integrated with patient care.
Among features discussed in reporting by the Times-Republican is a robotic dispensing system that not only is expected to speed up processing of prescriptions, but will enable patients to call in for automated refills to be prepared 24 hours a day.
As well as filling prescriptions for patients on location, the pharmacy will also dispense for patient care within the hospital, according to the Times-Republican. Called “meds-to-beds,” the hospital's new service will have pharmacists dispensing medication at a patient’s bedside and providing consultations in the hospital setting.
In addition to meeting medication needs, the pharmacy will also have merchandise from local vendors such as Piper’s candies, Nic Emerson’s woodwork, Rick Valentine’s special dips and sauces, as well as others, according to the Times-Republican.
