OTTUMWA PUBLIC LIBRARY: Summer Reading Program on June 1 to August 14

Reading

Ottumwa Public Library issued the following announcement on May 27.

Children, Teen & Adult

Summer Reading Program

June 1st –August 14th 2021

This year, the library is making participation in the Summer Reading Program easier than ever! Everyone, from birth through adult, will be completing the same reading time and activities, so now you can participate in the Summer Reading Program as a family.

How it Works:

  1. Register for the Summer Reading Program on the Beanstack site at ottumwapubliclibrary.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app. Follow the instructions on the back of this sheet to register yourself and your family. Don’t worry if you do not have access to a computer or smart phone you can still register in person at the Ottumwa Public Library and you can still participate in the summer reading program.
  2. Once you are signed up, kids and teens can pick up their registration material at the library. Kids and teens will receive a paper reading log, activities, a lanyard and their first physical registration badge.
  3. For each hour read and logged, and each activity completed and logged, you will earn a digital badge. Kids and teens will also earn a physical badge for their lanyard which they can pick up at the library. When you reach the halfway point, which is 5 hours of reading, kids and teens receive a book to keep and adults receive their first prize.
  4. Once you have read for 10 hours and completed all the activities you have completed the Summer Reading Program! Adults will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. Kids and teens will receive their Summer Reading prize bag, a second book to keep and entry into the kids or teen grand prize.
