Swcc

Southwestern Community College issued the following announcement.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has signed and returned the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) which provides additional emergency financial aid grants to students.

SWCC was required to spend at least the same amount as spent for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

As of May 14, 2021, SWCC has awarded and disbursed $293,694 of emergency financial aid grants to 726 students.

SWCC awarded funds to students who were enrolled during the Spring 2021 semester in credit courses. Students were given the option to apply their emergency financial aid grant to either their outstanding spring or summer bill. SWCC awarded all eligible students $300. An additional award of up to $315 was disbursed to Pell-eligible students. The additional amount was calculated based on the amount of their Pell award.

Instructions, directions, and guidance was provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency financial aid grants. An email was provided to students informing them of their eligibility for the CRRSAA emergency financial aid grant for expenses incurred during the Spring of 2021. They were informed of the option to pay off an outstanding balance, sign up for direct deposit, or receive a paper check in the mail.
