Iowa’s COVID-19 cases increase at an accelerated rate.
As of Sept. 13, Iowa’s cases had increased by 9,167 over seven days, KCCI Des Moines reported. There have been 6,337 overall coronavirus deaths in Iowa.

There are 549 coronavirus patients in hospitals in Iowa and 153 in intensive care, with 64 coming in during the last 24 hours, according to KCCI Des Moines. Of coronavirus cases in the ICU, 89.5% are not vaccinated.
There is nonetheless progress with vaccines in Iowa with 360,876 people vaccinated in Iowa, as reported by KCCI Des Moines. Even with those numbers new coronavirus cases in Iowa have increased by 27% over the past two weeks with a 1.6% hospitalization rate and a 12.2% rate of positive tests.
