The game was a match-up of the Big 12’s top two teams in scoring defense and total yardage defense.
“Ticket launch day for students! Grab your ticket this afternoon for Baylor v Iowa State and come celebrate FAMILY WEEKEND!” Baylor University Student Activities said on Twitter Sept. 21.
The game was played in Waco, not far from the Baylor campus at McLane Stadium and marked the first Big 12 home game of the 2021 season.
Iowa State was 1-1 against the spread and 2-1 overall this season as they entered conference with the over/under point total at 48.
The Cyclones came into the game ranked no. 14 in the Assoicated Press Top 25 Poll and led on offense by quarterback Brock Purdy who has thrown for 625 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Running back Breece Hall has 238 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Xavier Hutchinson leads the team in receiving yards with 243 and two touchdowns.
Defensively, linebacker Jake Hummel has 26 tackles and defensive back Isheem Young has two interceptions.
The Cyclones have beaten the University of Northern Iowa and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with their only loss occurring Sept. 11 against in-state rival Iowa, 27-17.
