The Iowa Division of the Criminal Investigation arrested a former police officer for suspicion of sexual assault on a girl.

Police arrested Andrew Patrick DeNoyer the night of Sept. 28, KIMT3 reported.

“The subject of the investigation was identified as Andrew DeNoyer, who at the time of the initiation of the investigation was an officer of the Eldridge Police Department,” the Iowa Department of Public Safety said in a release. “On the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, DeNoyer was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse Third Degree, in violation of Iowa Section 709.4(2), as defined in Section 709.4(1)(b)(3)(d).”

He was arrested a day after he resigned from his job at the Eldrige Police Department due to the investigation in this case that began the week before Sept. 27, according to KIMT3.

“As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty,” authorities said in a release.

Eldridge Police Chief Joe Sisler confirmed with KWQC on Sept. 29 DeNoyer no longer works at the department.

The victim is 14 years old, KIMT3 reported. DeNoyer is 24 years old.

Scott County Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case, according to the release.

DeNoyer is being held at the Scott County Jail with a $10,000 cash-only bond, KIMT3 reported.

The Iowa Department of Public System will not release more information as of Sept. 29.
