The University of Iowa's field hockey team has advanced to the top rank of the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings during Week 4, according to a press release from the team.
Iowa is currently rated No. 1 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll with 1,118 points, including 39 first-place votes. The team was ranked No. 2 in the same poll Sept. 28.
“First time in school history we're atop the NFHCA rankings (NFHCA was founded in 1997)!" Iowa Field Hockey announced on Twitter.
This marks the first time in the team's history that the Hawkeyes have reached the top rank in the poll.
At 12-0, the Hawkeyes remain undefeated, which is the team's strongest start since 1999.
Additionally, the team has established a new school record with eight consecutive shutouts dating all the way back to Aug. 27 and has yielded only four goals all season.
