Iowa secures victory to Penn State with 23-20 finish

No. 4 Penn State has fallen to No. 3 Iowa after an Oct. 9 faceoff at Kinnick Stadium that resulted in a final score of 23-20 Iowa.

Iowa is showing a strong offense this season with quarterback Spencer Petras and running back Tyler Goodson, according to Sporting News.

The defense for Penn State has forced opponents into an average starting field position at the 24.8-yard line, according to Fan Nation.

The game was expected to be a defense-and-field-position game, Fan Nation said.  

“This weekend in college football, there are at least 2 games that could impact the CFP race, the Red River Rivalry and #4 Penn State at #3 Iowa," Thomas Banham said in an Oct. 7 tweet. "As far as #5 Cincinnati’s chances, they need to not only win out, but they need to be blowouts.”

Sporting News reported that Iowa’s defense produces turnovers. Before the match, the team’s defense has produced 16 turnovers, with a +12 turnover ratio.

Penn State finished the game with 10 penalties for 61 yards and eight false starts, CBS Sports reported.
