The sudden rise in Iowa’s COVID-19 cases has been a cause of concern for many. Frustrated individuals are taking to the internet to express their concerns about the state’s handling of the coronavirus.

Iowa resident Mark D. tweeted: “Iowa up to 10.3+ rate for Covid. It's been going Up for several months as are hospitalizations and deaths AGAIN! Thanks Kim Reynolds and Covid spreaders for all the empty chairs for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Thanks You Selfish SOB'S!”

As of Monday, Nov. 22, the seven-day case rate was at 9,560, KCCI reported. The positivity rate was up to 10.3% from the previous week’s 9.9%. This differential accounts for approximately 860 cases. As the holidays near, the uptick in cases is part of a rising trend across the nation.

Fortunately, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just authorized booster shots for all vaccinated adults.

"Booster shots have demonstrated the ability to safely increase people's protection against infection and severe outcomes and are an important public health tool to strengthen our defenses against the virus as we enter the winter holidays," CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in a statement, according to The Associated Press. "Based on the compelling evidence, all adults over 18 should now have equitable access to a COVID-19 booster dose.”
