Southwestern Community College recently issued the following announcement.
The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Chamber Singers will be touring in the Des Moines area the week of November 29-December 3, presenting “Sure On This Shining Night” with carols and masterworks by Lauridsen, Mattson, Poulenc, Take 6, Weir, and Whitacre. The public is invited to attend.
The Chamber Singers feature the amazing voices of students from across the United States, who have come to SWCC in Creston to attend the college’s School for Music Vocations (SMV). The choir will be directed by SMV Professional Music Instructor Tobi Crawford.
Concert dates and locations follow:
• Monday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m. – Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Drive, Des Moines
• Tuesday, Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m. – Central Presbyterian Church, 3829 Grand Avenue, Des Moines
• Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m. – Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines Street, Des Moines
• Thursday, Dec. 2, 5:30 p.m. – Plymouth Church, 4126 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines
Free will donations will be accepted at each concert.
In addition, the SMV Chamber Singers will be performing a concert on Friday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m., at the Salem Lutheran Church, 602 W. Townline Street, Creston.
