Cyclones women’s basketball won against Longwood.

"The @LongwoodWBB team has had some major tests in the midst of this six-game road swing, including today against 14th ranked Iowa State," the Longwood Lancers official Twitter account said in advance of the game.

One of the highlights of the game was Cyclone’s Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw's return during the end of the first quarter of the game after being absent for almost a year, the Des Moines Register reported.

Iowa State lost its first match of the season against LSU, but made it up with this win, Iowa State Daily reported. Iowa State won 94-56 against Longwood on Dec. 5.

The game's attendance was 9,542 at the Hilton Coliseum, the Des Moines Register reported. Iowa State is now ranked 13th in the nation and has a record of 8-1 on the year so far. The game was viewed as a "tune up" match before the big in-state game against Iowa on Dec. 8, according to Iowa State Daily.

Iowa State started the game slowly, shooting only 30% and leading just 11-10, Iowa State Daily reported. Their fortunes improved after a timeout and they built a 23-13 lead. The lead then swelled to 48-25 at halftime.

Overall, Iowa State shot very well in the game, shooting 50% from the field in the second half and being a perfect 13-13 in free-throw attempts. Conversely, the Lancers did not earn a single free throw attempt in the first half, according to Iowa State Daily. Aubrey Joens led the way for Iowa State with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
