Finalists named for Northeast Iowa Community College presidency

Northeast Iowa Community College recently issued the following announcement.

The Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees approved The President Search Committee’s recommendation of four finalist candidates for the position of college president, at its meeting on Dec. 20.

Finalists selected are:

Dr. Mark Curtis-Chavez 

Dr. Curtis-Chávez currently serves as the Provost of the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Ill. Curtis-Chávez earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Toledo, an M.A. in English from Northern Illinois University and a B.A. in English from Indiana University.

Dr. Joe DeHart 

Dr. DeHart currently serves as provost of the Des Moines Area Community College Newton campus. DeHart earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in Educational Leadership from Iowa State University and B.S. in General Science from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Martin Reimer

Dr. Reimer currently serves as provost at Ellsworth Community College of the Iowa Valley Community College District. Reimer earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Capella University, an M.B.A in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a B.A. in General Studies from Central College.

Dr. Herb Riedel

Dr. Riedel most recently served as president of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Ala. Riedel earned a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics and M.Math from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa.

“The President Search Committee reviewed all the applicants and recommended the four individuals it believes are best qualified to be the next NICC president. I am looking forward to meeting and interviewing each of the four finalists,” stated Jim Anderson, J.D., NICC Board of Trustees chair.
