The Dec. 30 Iowa-Penn State women’s basketball game was canceled due to concerns related to COVID-19.

The game was canceled out of caution for a positive COVID-19 test result from Penn State’s team, according to Hawkeye Sports. Penn State Athletics medical staff followed Big Ten Conference protocols and consulted with medical staff to inform their decision to cancel the game.

"Information regarding how this game will be treated in relation to the Big Ten Conference 2021-22 Forfeiture Policy will be announced in the coming days," according to the press release from Hawkeye Sports.

The Hawkeyes were 6-3 for the season so far.

They hosted Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
