Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds campaign funds far exceed that of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Deidre DeJear, according to recent campaign disclosures.

Reynolds' campaign has $2,085,182.95 cash on hand, according to a campaign disclosure.

By comparison, DeJear's campaign has $1,812.95 in available cash.

DeJear seemed dauntless and took to Twitter to thank her donors for their contributions.

"THANK YOU to the 5,146 donors who gave $5 and $10 because they believe in our vision," DeJear wrote in a  Jan. 19 Twitter post. "I am proud that our campaign is fueled by parents, teachers, nurses, small business owners, students — the real Iowans that make our communities great."

DeJear officially announced her run for the governor's office last August following a five week "Conversation Tour" to explore the possibility of a run for governor.

"Macy, Maurice, & I have something to tell you… Today, I’m officially launching my run for Governor of Iowa," DeJear wrote in an Aug. 14 Twitter post. "Iowa is my home, and I’m ready to bring Iowans together and restore trust in our state’s leadership."

DeJear previously ran for the position of Iowa's secretary of state in 2018, but lost to Republican incumbent Paul Pate, according to Siouxland News. Although she lost the race, she remained active in the Democratic party building her reputation with voters.

"There is something incredibly special about this state; my chosen home," DeJear said in a statement, according to Siouxland News. "During my Conversation Tour, traveling county by county, I was reminded that I’m not the only one who believes in Iowa. I've met Iowans who take great pride in their communities, however imperfect they may be. We all know: Iowa is worth fighting for."

A business leader and voting rights advocate, DeJear said that issues she intends to prioritize will include schools and businesses if elected.
