Southwestern Community College recently issued the following announcement.
Come celebrate National Agriculture Week with the Southwestern Community College Agriculture Department!
The festivities will include an Open House & National Agriculture Week Celebration at the Agricultural Sciences Center, located at the SWCC Ag Site (north of SWCC’s campus on Green Valley Road), on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. As part of the day, the Creston Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. to celebrate the expansion of the ag facility.
Although construction of the facility was completed in 2020, due to COVID-19, an open house has not yet been held.
During the open house, students will demonstrate technology such as a self-propelled sprayer simulator, UTV equipped with state-of-the-art precision farming technology, AI/breeding simulators, and growing labs.
Refreshments will be served during the ribbon cutting ceremony and a light lunch is planned to begin late-morning.
The public is invited to attend.
