Children's and Teen Summer Reading Program 2022 - Read Beyond the Beaten Path

Program Ages: Children’s program: 0-12

Teen program: 13-18

 How it Works:

  1.  Starting June 1st register for the Summer Reading Program on the Beanstack site at ottumwapubliclibrary.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app. You can also register in person at the Ottumwa Public Library.
  2. Pick up your registration material at the library. You will receive a paper reading log, a lanyard, and your registration badge. 
  3. For each hour read and logged, and each activity completed and logged, you will earn a badge. Badges can be picked up from the children’s desk at the library.
  4. When you reach the halfway point, which is 5 hours of reading, you will receive a book to keep that can be picked up at the library.
  5. Once you have read for 10 hours you have completed the Summer Reading Program! You will receive a Summer Reading prize bag, a second book to keep, and entry into the kids or teen grand prize drawings.

Tuesday, June 21st at 10am – American Gothic Performing Arts – The Three Little Pigs 

Thursday, June 23rd at 10am – Pint Size Polkas

Tuesday, June 28th at 10am – Dino O’Dell

Thursday, July 7th at 10am – Absolute Science’s Bubble Show

Thursday, July 14 at 10am – Blank Park Zoo

Tuesday, July 19th at 10am – ISU Insect Zoo

Tuesday, July 26th at 10am – Wapello County Conservation – Animal Tracks

Tuesday, August 2nd at 10am – Wapello County Conservation – Native Pollinators

Grand Prizes: 

Ages 0-4: Play tent and camping set

Ages 5-12: Small tent and other camping supplies

Ages 13-18: $75 Amazon gift card
