Battle of the BBQ is a tradition in Corning, Iowa. It typically falls on the last full weekend in July every year. Our community welcomes cookers from Iowa and neighboring States.
Contestants:
Join us in a “Backyard BBQ” style competition. Compete with opponents for a chance at Grand Champion and a purse of over $6,000 in cash prizes! To qualify for Grand Champion, you must participate in all 4 categories: Beef Brisket, Pork Butt, Pork Ribs, and Chicken. The brisket and pork butt will be provided but you must provide your own pork ribs (must include bones) and chicken (whole or pieces).
An optional dessert category, with an entry fee of $25, will also take place and 100% payback goes to the winner!
The Hot Wing contest is back by popular demand! Bring your best wing recipe to compete with your opponents for the People’s Choice award on Friday, July 22nd, 2022. Free to enter and wings are provided! The wing feed opens to the public at 7:00 p.m.

Patrons:
A gate fee of $20 will gain you access into the event, the opportunity to visit with the competitors, all you can eat hot wings, the beer garden, DJ, the street dance, and a meal ticket for the next day.
Friday, July 22nd
5:00 p.m. – DJ’s Randy and Holly Cooper will start our night out with musical entertainment. While listening to a variety of music stop by our beer garden where you’ll find an ice cold beverage.
7:00 p.m. – All you can eat wings begin! Stop by participating cooker’s sites to sample their recipes and don’t forget to vote for your favorite!
8:00 p.m. – Street Dance! We’ll have a live band! Blacktop out of Des Moines will be in the house.
Saturday, July 24th
12:30 p.m. – Join us for lunch as we serve beef brisket and pork butt sandwiches smoked to perfection by our BBQ competitors.
