Wellness Screening Event at Decatur County Hospital

On February 13-15, 2023, Decatur County Hospital will host its annual Wellness Screening Event. This event allows community members to visit the hospital and receive low cost lab test results.

We offer a full wellness panel for $20.00 that includes: complete blood count (CBC), cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, glucose, calcium, BUN, creatinine, sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2, ALT, AST, albumin, total bilirubin, total protein, alkaline phosphate, and Vitamin D (which is not typically covered by insurance).

In addition to this wellness panel, three (3) separate tests are available for $10.00 each, including HGB A1C Only (Blood sugar levels, used to diagnose and track Diabetes risk), TSH Only (Thyroid-stimulating hormone), and PSA Only (Prostate-specific antigen).

Once your lab tests are complete, we will mail you a report of your results. If you have a result that is “out of range,” that result will be bolded to call it to your attention.

If you have a result that is “out of range,” and you are concerned about how that might impact your health, we encourage you to speak to your primary health care provider, or to call the DCH Outpatient Clinic to request a consultation with one of our specialists. Some common concerns that our specialists may be able to help with include:

Endocrinology & Nutrition Education. This service is especially appropriate if you need services to address 1) diabetes diagnosis and management based on an A1C blood sugar level that is higher than the specified range, 2) thyroid function testing based on an out of range results for the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), or 3) Diet consultation to help increase intake of vitamins which might be deficient.

Cardiology. Services in this clinic may help if you need testing and treatment for hypertension or other cardiovascular disease based on cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, or other levels that return out of range results.

Hematology/Oncology. Our board-certified hematologist and oncologist works directly with individuals who have blood disorders. An appointment with this specialist may be considered if you have out of range results for the following tests: white blood cell, red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit (HCT), or platelets.

The DCH Outpatient Clinic offers access to fifteen (15) specialties each month: Cardiology; Dermatology; Ears, Nose, and Throat; Endocrinology; General and Vascular Surgery; Gynecology and Uro-Gynecology; Interventional Pain Services; Medical Weight Loss; Neurology; Oncology and Hematology; Orthopedic Surgery; Podiatry; Pulmonology; Rheumatology; and Urology. If you need specialized care for any of these concerns, we’re just a phone call away.

If you would like to visit with one of our specialists about any results that concern you, please call the DCH Outpatient Clinic at 641-446-2285 to schedule a consultation. Depending on your insurance, many of our specialists can accept new patients without a referral.
