U.S. Representative Zach Nunn has announced a $2 million federal investment for water infrastructure improvements in Minburn, Iowa. This funding is aimed at enhancing the city's aging water system, which frequently suffers from line breaks and issues boil orders. The current system also poses challenges for first responders during fire emergencies.

Rep. Nunn expressed his enthusiasm about securing this investment through the Community Project Funding process, stating: “I’m incredibly excited to announce that we secured a $2 million federal investment for much-needed improvements for the Minburn water system.” He emphasized that such investments are crucial as they benefit a large number of people by ensuring safe drinking water and supporting local safety services like the Minburn Fire Department.

The funds were allocated as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, signed into law on March 9, 2024. This initiative was made possible through collaborative efforts between city officials and engineers dedicated to fostering economic growth in Minburn.

Mayor Joe Stuetelberg highlighted the importance of infrastructure improvements for community well-being: “As mayor, one of my highest priorities is ensuring the long-term well-being of our community, and a critical part of that is maintaining and improving our infrastructure.” He extended thanks to those involved in facilitating these advancements.

The announcement took place at a press conference held at Minburn City Hall with Mayor Stuetelberg and members of the city council present.
