City of Ottumwa issued the following announcement on Mar. 5.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be stocking 2,000 Rainbow and Brook trout in the Ottumwa Park Pond located on the East side of Wapello Street, on Saturday, March 28th at 11 am. The trout fishing derby, sponsored by Ottumwa Parks and Recreation, will be held from 11 am to 3 pm. Prizes will be awarded for tagged fish. One grand prize will be awarded for the largest trout caught. Prizes have been donated by the Ottumwa Wal-Mart. Tagged fish can be redeemed for prizes next to the old bath house building in Ottumwa Park.
