City of Osceola issued the following announcement on June 5.

On Thursday, June 4, a drive-thru COVID-19 testing event was held at the Clarke County Fairgrounds and Event Center. Two testing sessions were offered to south-central Iowa residents by appointment, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Fifty-four people were tested from the comfort of their own car. Test results are expected back by Monday, June 8, 2020.

The event was sponsored by Clarke and Decatur Public Health Departments, and Clarke County Emergency Management. The event received operational assistance from Clarke County Hospital, the Osceola Police Department, the Clarke County Sheriff’s office, the Community Emergency Response Team, and the Clarke County Fair Board.

The testing site was not affiliated with Test Iowa, but was supported by the Iowa Department of Public Health. The testing site also served as a trial run in preparation for possible mass public testing that may be scheduled in the future.

For questions or additional information on this event, please contact Clarke County Hospital’s Communications & Foundation Manager, Thomas Bahls at Clarke County Hospital, 800 S. Fillmore Street, Osceola, IA 50213, phone: 641-342-5489
