Cargill Inc., recently received more than $11 million in tax breaks and refunds from the State of Iowa and the Monroe County government due to its $230 million corn milling chemical production project slated to bring 14 new jobs to the area.
The Oskaloosa Herald reported on May 25 that the Iowa Economic Development Authority approved $6 million in tax cuts and refunds and the Monroe County Board of Supervisors approved a tax abatement of $5.5 million for Cargill.
According to the Oskaloosa Herald, Cargill plans to add 14 jobs with a pay rate of at least $17.46 per hour. The jobs will be part of Cargill's new production of a "bio-based chemical" for packaging, paints and other products.
Curiosity Labs in Ames, Providence Data Technologies in Distynct, Dhakai in Cedar Falls and FarmHandApp in DeWitt were also among startup businesses who also recently got support from the Economic Development Authority through the approval of $25,000 in Proof of Commercial Relevance loans, according to the Oskaloosa Herald.
