In response to the recent severe weather conditions that began on Aug. 10, Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for several eastern and central counties, according to Osceola Sentinel-Tribune.

The disaster proclamation now covers 20 counties including Clarke County and put into effect the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program (IIAGP) for qualifying residents and the Iowa Disaster Case Management (IDCM) program.

Residents that have suffered damages or losses to their personal property or homes may contact the local SCICAP Clarke County outreach office located 114 South Fillmore in Osceola, phone 641-342-2101. Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Monroe and Wayne counties are served by the South Central Iowa Community Action Program, which is centrally located in Chariton.

Households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level may be eligible for up to $5,000 of assistance, reimbursement and/or vendor voucher, from the the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program (IIAGP) for covered damages.

Applications must be made through SCICAP Clarke County outreach coordinator Troy McBroom at the Clarke County community action outreach office. The deadline for applications is Sept. 25.

The Iowa Disaster Case Management (IDCM) program was implemented to address serious needs to overcome disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse conditions. Disaster case managers will work with clients to create disaster recovery plans and provide guidance and referrals. There is no income eligibility requirement for Disaster Case Management and no direct financial assistance will be provided. Disaster Case Management will closed on Feb. 8, 2021.

Individuals affected by the storms/flooding are encouraged to report damages/losses to their county Emergency Management office.
