Iowa Swim & Dive hosted Minnesota on Oct. 8 in a Big Ten Conference duel at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Minnesota Gophers secured the victory with a final score of 156-104. The day served as Senior Day for the Hawkeyes, according to Hawkeye Sports.
Georgia Clark, Sam Tamborski, Ariel Wooden and manager Jonathan Teitelbaum were the four seniors honored at the meet, according to Hawkeye Sports.
“We're back at the CRWC on Friday to host Minnesota in a B1G duel!" Iowa Swim & Dive said in an Oct. 6 Tweet. "It's Senior Day so arrive early for the 4 p.m. start! #Hawkeyes"
According to Go Iowa Awesome, "the swim & dive team had their first meet the week of Sept. 27 and lost against Northern Iowa."
During the same meet, the Iowa Hawkeyes won nine of the events, according to Go Iowa Awesome on Oct. 5.
According to the Daily Iowan, Iowa lost its home opening meet last Friday to UNI, 159- 133.
The Daily Iowan reports that the Hawkeyes only have 12 active swimmers on their roster in comparison to Minnesota who has 33.
“I honestly think it’s just keeping a positive attitude going into meets just because we know we are not going to win much because of our numbers,” Junior Kennedy Gilbertson said, according to the Daily Iowan. “Even though we could get first in everything, it still comes down to how many people you have on your team.”
