Iowa Finance Authority announced Dec. 15 that it is awarding nearly $5 million for homelessness assistance initiatives. Funding is available through the State-funded Shelter Assistance Fund and the federal Emergency Solutions Grant program, according to a release from the group.
“Iowa’s homeless service professionals work tirelessly to help get Iowans back on their feet and into permanent housing and this funding will aid in those efforts,” Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham said.
The group's board of directors approved a total of $4.8 million in grants. The grants will assist 47 agencies, specifically homelessness assistance initiatives, in 2022.
This includes, but is not limited to, the Salvation Army (Scott County), the Muscatine Center for Social Action (Muscatine County), YWCA Clinton Empowerment Center (Clinton County) and Shelter House Community Shelter and Transition Services (Johnson County), MSN reported.
