The Wapello County Sheriff's Office was given over $8,000 to put toward traffic safety devices, which will help deputies control speeding.
The state funding purchased many new devices for deputies to use, some of which will help them track speed of vehicles, according to KTVO.
A new speed trailer is being used in Wapello County and its location will be rotated each week by county deputies, KTVO reported.
Other devices bought with the grant money from Gov. Kim Reynolds' Traffic Safety Bureau were a dash camera, overtime expenses, two breathalyzers and a radar unit, according to KTVO.
The Traffic Safety Bureau distributes the grant annually as a way to help reduce the amount of traffic-related deaths in the state, KTVO reported.
Motorists are also being reminded to slow down by the Iowa State Patrol, according to KTVO. There have been extremely high-speed stops reported by troops within the last few weeks. Some reported speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
