City of Ottumwa issued the following announcement on Sept. 4.
Hayne Street will be closed from Iowa Avenue to Cherry Street starting Tuesday September 8th. While the street is closed pavement will be removed and replaced, new sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main will be installed. This closure is part of Phase 8 of Ottumwa’s Sewer Separation Project. Signage will be set up to designate Railroad Street as the detour route for through traffic. Work on Hayne Street is expected to continue for the remainder of the construction season.
