Adams Community Foundation Grant Recipients

206

Adams Community Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

The Adams Community Foundation has reached a milestone this year with the funds held now totaling over 1.5 million dollars.  As those funds continue to grow, more dollars are able to be invested back into the community for worthy projects. You can be a part of that endowment building by financially supporting the Foundation.   It is the legacy of those gifts and of future gifts that creates a thriving foundation.  I want to thank those of you who have financially supported the Foundation.  It is greatly appreciated.  If you haven’t made a gift, I would ask you to strongly consider making it a part of your annual giving and to seriously consider making the Foundation a part of your legacy by making a lifetime gift or setting up an endowment fund.  If you would like to know more about how you can financially support the Adams Community Foundation, please see any of our board members or visit our Foundation page.

The Adams Community Foundation Board consists of Scott Akin, Leland Shipley, Gary Badgett, Becky Poen, Lisa Wilkinson, Fred Shearer, Jerry Peckham, Stephen Gruba, and Nancy Turner.  They met on January 12th to select the Foundation Grant recipients.  Thank you to all of those organizations who submitted grant applications.  They were all worthy projects and represented many hours of hard work by the citizens of our county.  The non-profit organizations and governmental entities in our county put in countless hours making our community what it is today and what it will become in the future. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their service with their time, talent and treasure.

The Foundation awarded its first grants in 1988 and since then has given away grants totaling over 1.5 million dollars.  These projects are impacting the lives of our citizens and will continue to do so for many years to come. The Foundation Grant recipients are examples of the types of impactful projects that make our community such a great place to call home!

  • Adams County Ambulance to purchase a Lucas Device – $6,000.00
  • Adams Community Economic Development Corporation for welcome center renovations – $13,000.00
  • Corning Youth Club for replacement of football helmets – $5,000.00
  • Corning Public Library for replacement of roof – $5,321.00

  • Corning Opera House for exterior painting – $18,000.00
  • Children and Families of Iowa to support vulnerable children – $2,000.00
