A White House document says that Iowa is among 18 states where COVID-19 cases are increasing.
The report prepared for the White House Coronavirus Task Force revealed that is in the “red zone” because Iowans tested positive at a rate higher than 100 people per 100,000 population, Iowa Public Radio reported.
Since it registered a positive testing rate of between 5% and 10%, the Hawkeye State in also in the “yellow zone.”
Five counties – Webster, Sioux, Franklin, Clarke and Osceola – are considered in the red zone, and the document recommends each county implement restrictions again.
Forty-two counties are in the yellow zone, meaning their restrictions are less restrictive but nonetheless should be implemented to forestall exponential community spread.
All 47 Iowa counties mentioned in the report must implement facial coverings and social distancing, as well as subject those who work at nursing homes and assisted living facilities to weekly testing.
